Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ANLB) has concluded the fiscal year 2082/83 on a high note, reporting an impressive surge in its financial performance for the fourth quarter. The unaudited financial statements reveal a substantial 39.56% year-on-year increase in net profit, reaching Rs. 6.23 crore, up from Rs. 4.47 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. This robust growth underscores the microfinance institution's effective strategies in enhancing profitability and operational resilience within Nepal's dynamic financial landscape.

The significant uplift in net profit was primarily driven by a healthy expansion in net interest income, which climbed by 13.19% to Rs. 15.36 crore, compared to Rs. 13.57 crore a year earlier. This indicates a strong core lending business and efficient management of interest-earning assets and interest-bearing liabilities. The institution's ability to grow its interest income, despite potential market pressures, highlights its competitive positioning and effective outreach to its target clientele.

Further contributing to the improved bottom line was a notable increase in customer engagement and lending activities. Customer deposits expanded by an impressive 27.03% to Rs. 1.13 Arba, demonstrating growing public trust and the institution's success in mobilizing savings. Concurrently, loans and advances to customers saw a substantial rise of 21.32% to Rs. 1.88 Arba. This dual growth in both deposits and lending signifies a healthy expansion of ANLB's operational footprint and its commitment to financial inclusion, serving a crucial role in providing access to finance for underserved communities.

Operational efficiency also played a pivotal role in ANLB's strong performance. While operating expenses saw a modest increase of 4.03% to Rs. 1.61 crore, the institution managed to significantly reduce its impairment charges. Impairment charges stood at Rs. 2.12 crore, a substantial decrease from Rs. 4.72 crore in the same period last year. This reduction in provisions for potential loan losses is a strong indicator of improved asset quality and effective risk management practices, directly bolstering the company's profitability. As a result of these combined factors, operating profit surged to Rs. 5.17 crore, up from Rs. 4.97 crore in the previous fiscal year's fourth quarter.

From an asset quality perspective, ANLB demonstrated commendable progress. The non-performing loan (NPL) ratio saw a significant decline to 10.78% from 12.80% a year earlier. This improvement in asset quality is crucial for a microfinance institution, as it reflects better credit assessment, monitoring, and recovery mechanisms, ultimately reducing financial risk. While the capital adequacy ratio slightly eased to 15.73% from 17.33%, it remains well above regulatory requirements, indicating a sound financial buffer to absorb potential shocks and support future growth. The cost of funds, an important metric for financial institutions, was reported at 8.45%, reflecting the cost efficiency in securing funding.

On a per-share basis, the institution's performance is equally encouraging for investors. Earnings per share (EPS) increased robustly to Rs. 69.71 from Rs. 57.07, showcasing enhanced shareholder value. Although net worth per share experienced a slight decrease of 5.83% to Rs. 103.28, the overall trajectory of profitability and operational strength paints a positive picture. The consistent growth in EPS, coupled with improved asset quality and expanding business operations, positions Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta as a compelling entity within the microfinance sector, demonstrating its capacity for sustainable growth and value creation for its stakeholders.

This comprehensive performance in Q4 FY 2082/83 highlights ANLB's strategic prowess in navigating market challenges, optimizing operational costs, and maintaining a healthy loan portfolio. Investors will likely view these results as a testament to the company's strong management and its potential for continued positive financial outcomes in the upcoming fiscal year.
