Sahas Urja Limited (SAHAS), a significant entity in Nepal's rapidly expanding hydropower sector, has unveiled its unaudited financial statements for the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year, showcasing a period of remarkable growth and operational strength. The results highlight a substantial increase in both electricity sales revenue and net profit, underscoring the company's effective management strategies and its pivotal role in meeting the nation's growing demand for clean energy.

For the fiscal year concluding Ashar Masanta, Sahas Urja recorded an impressive net profit exceeding NPR 1.35 billion. This outstanding performance represents a robust 51.84% surge compared to the previous fiscal year's net profit of NPR 895.1 million. Such a significant leap in profitability is a clear indicator of the company's operational efficiency, its strategic market positioning, and the successful execution of its business model.

A critical factor contributing to this enhanced profitability was the company's adept management of its financial expenses. Interest liabilities, which stood at NPR 802.1 million in the prior fiscal year, were successfully reduced to NPR 577.5 million. This notable reduction in borrowing costs played a crucial role in bolstering the company's bottom line, reflecting prudent financial stewardship and potentially favorable refinancing opportunities.

Sahas Urja's primary revenue stream originates from the 86-megawatt Solu Khola (Dudhkoshi) Hydropower Project, strategically located in the Solukhumbu district. The electricity generated from this project is consistently sold to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), ensuring a stable and predictable income. During the last fiscal year, the company's electricity sales revenue reached NPR 2.84 billion, an increase from NPR 2.64 billion in the preceding year. This consistent growth in revenue not only demonstrates the project's successful operation but also its vital contribution to the national energy grid.

Further analysis of the financial statements reveals a gross profit of NPR 1.99 billion after accounting for direct taxes and amortization. The operating profit, after deducting administrative expenses, stood at a healthy NPR 1.97 billion, indicating strong performance from its core operations.

Beyond the impressive profit figures, Sahas Urja has also diligently strengthened its financial foundation. The company's paid-up capital remains solid at NPR 4.5738 billion. Significantly, its reserve fund has experienced healthy expansion, growing from NPR 3.162 billion in the previous fiscal year to NPR 3.6803 billion. This accumulation of reserves provides a stronger financial cushion for future investments and unforeseen circumstances, thereby enhancing long-term shareholder value.

Moreover, the company has made commendable progress in optimizing its debt profile. Its medium and long-term debt has been reduced from NPR 9.17 billion to NPR 8.86 billion, signaling a disciplined approach to financial leverage and risk management. The total asset base of the company is now valued at NPR 18.461 billion, reflecting its substantial infrastructure and operational capacity.

Looking ahead, Sahas Urja is not content with its current achievements. The company is actively pursuing ambitious expansion plans through its subsidiary, Times Energy Private Limited, which is spearheading the development of the formidable 341-megawatt Budhigandaki 'A' Hydropower Project. To finance this significant undertaking, Sahas Urja has initiated the necessary procedures, including a proposal for a rights issue. This strategic move is poised to unlock substantial long-term growth potential and further solidify Sahas Urja's position as a key contributor to Nepal's energy independence and economic development.

These robust financial results, coupled with proactive strategic investments, paint a highly positive outlook for Sahas Urja Limited. The company's demonstrated ability to significantly increase profitability, manage costs effectively, and plan for future expansion makes it an attractive proposition for investors keen on the dynamic hydropower sector in Nepal. This forward-thinking approach bodes well for its sustained success and continued value creation.
