Sanima Bank Limited (SANIMA) has announced a significant proposal to distribute a 10% cash dividend to its ordinary shareholders for the fiscal year 2082/83. This decision, made during a board meeting held on Bhadra 11 (approximately August 27th), reflects the bank's robust financial performance and its unwavering commitment to delivering consistent value to its investors. The proposed dividend, which includes applicable taxes, will be disbursed from the bank's accumulated retained earnings, a testament to its prudent financial management over the past year.

For ordinary shareholders, this dividend translates into a substantial payout. With the bank's current ordinary share capital standing at NPR 13,581,525,414, the 10% cash dividend will amount to a total of NPR 1,358,152,541. This move is anticipated to be very well-received by the investment community, especially in a market where consistent and attractive dividend payouts are a key indicator of a company's financial health, stability, and future prospects. Cash dividends are particularly appealing as they provide immediate liquidity to shareholders, offering them the flexibility to reinvest in the market, diversify their portfolios, or utilize the funds as they deem fit, thereby enhancing their overall investment returns.

Beyond its ordinary shareholders, Sanima Bank has also demonstrated its commitment to its preference shareholders by proposing an 8.25% cash dividend. This dividend will be distributed proportionally based on the period from the share allotment date to the end of the fiscal year, inclusive of all relevant taxes. The bank's preference share capital is valued at NPR 2,000,000,000, and the allocated dividend for this segment of shareholders totals NPR 52,438,356. Combining the payouts for both ordinary and preference shareholders, Sanima Bank is set to distribute a grand total of NPR 1,410,590,897 in cash dividends, further underscoring its strong profitability and sound financial stewardship.

The dividend proposal, while exciting for investors, is subject to a multi-stage approval process. Before shareholders can receive their payouts, the recommendation from the Board of Directors must first secure the necessary approval from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank and primary regulatory authority for financial institutions in Nepal. Following NRB's endorsement, the proposal will then be presented for ratification at the bank's upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). Only after the AGM's official approval will the dividend be formally distributed to eligible shareholders. This rigorous regulatory and corporate governance framework ensures transparency, fairness, and strict adherence to established financial norms and best practices.

Sanima Bank's consistent performance and strategic expansion have solidified its position as a prominent and reliable player in Nepal's highly competitive banking sector. The bank currently boasts an extensive and robust network, operating 134 offices and 127 ATMs strategically located across all seven provinces of Nepal. This wide geographical reach enables it to serve a diverse and growing customer base, contributing significantly to its stable revenue streams, sustained profitability, and overall market leadership. The ability to propose such a substantial cash dividend amidst varying economic conditions speaks volumes about its operational efficiency, strong asset quality, and inherent resilience in navigating market challenges.

This announcement from Sanima Bank comes at a pivotal time when many listed companies in the Nepali capital market are beginning to declare their returns for the last fiscal year. Investors are keenly awaiting these announcements, as dividends, whether in the form of cash or bonus shares, are a crucial component of investment returns and a key factor in investment decision-making. While some companies have already made their declarations, others are in the process, creating a dynamic and engaging environment for investors seeking both yield and capital appreciation. Sanima Bank's decision to opt for a cash dividend highlights a clear preference for direct shareholder returns, which can be particularly appealing in the current market climate. This strategic move not only rewards existing shareholders but also enhances the bank's attractiveness to potential investors looking for stable, income-generating stocks with a proven track record. The market will undoubtedly watch closely as other financial institutions follow suit, setting the tone for the broader investment landscape in Nepal and influencing investor sentiment for the upcoming fiscal year.
