Nepal's Home Minister Urges Religious Harmony Amidst Key Social Dialogues

Speaking to media representatives following crucial discussions with various protesting factions, including the 'Hindu Samrat Sena' (United Hindu Front) in Dhanusha, Minister Gurung underscored the paramount importance of mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence among all citizens. Further demands touch upon judicial and administrative reforms, such as reviewing the cases of individuals arrested during the Dewanganj incident in Sunsari and ensuring their release according to legal procedures; providing proper medical treatment and health services for those injured during protests; reviewing the relevance, necessity, and legal basis of religious commissions; ensuring full security and peace for participating citizens by the Nepal government; and investigating Nepali citizenships issued since 2062/63 BS (2005/06 AD) to initiate legal action against foreign nationals found to possess them illegally. Economically significant demands include the investigation, monitoring, and scrutiny of foreign financial investments (funding) in madrasas, mosques, and other religious sites, with immediate action against any irregularities. Lastly, the Front demanded the identification and legal prosecution of culprits involved in the 12-year-old Anand Das incident, along with compensation for the victim's family.
