eSewa and Citizens Bank Launch ‘Swabalamban Karja’ for Persons with Disabilities

eSewa and Citizens Bank International Limited have launched ‘Swabalamban Karja’, a digital loan facility aimed at making formal credit more accessible to Persons with Disabilities. The facility allows eligible applicants to apply for loans directly through the eSewa app, reducing the need for lengthy paperwork and physical visits. Loans ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 200,000 are available at an annual interest rate of 9.99%, with a 0.75% processing fee.

Applicants must have a KYC-verified eSewa account, a disability identity card issued by the Government of Nepal, at least six months of eSewa usage history, and a regular income from employment or business. Loan approval will be subject to the bank’s assessment and applicable terms. The facility was launched at an event in Kathmandu attended by representatives from eSewa, Citizens Bank, the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal, development partners, Persons with Disabilities and the media.
