Over Rs 15 Billion Available in Disaster and Relief Funds Amid Bhote Koshi Flood Response

More than Rs 15 billion is currently available across the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund as financial support continues to be mobilized for people affected by the floods in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa. According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund has a substantial balance across accounts maintained at various commercial banks, along with foreign currency reserves. The Disaster Relief Fund currently holds Rs 11.27 billion in accounts maintained at nine commercial banks. The balance stands at Rs 11.27 billion, 2 lakh, 60 thousand and 685. In addition, the fund has US dollar-denominated accounts at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Sunrise Bank, holding a combined balance of USD 24.80 million. The government has stated that the combined balance across all the accounts of the relevant relief funds stands at Rs 15.06 billion, 56 lakh, 28 thousand and 167. The funds are being used to support disaster-affected communities and facilitate relief and recovery efforts following natural disasters, including the recent flooding in the Bhote Koshi River area of Rasuwa. The government has already released Rs 1 billion from the Disaster Relief Fund for flood-affected areas. The continued availability of funds is expected to support ongoing relief operations and provide financial assistance to communities affected by the Bhote Koshi floods. The government has been coordinating the mobilization of resources through the designated disaster and relief funds.
